I am glad to be able to write the Weekly Update today as the Jr. School Facilitator at 鶹ֱ. Hopefully, you enjoyed a lovely long weekend with your families. Despite the shorter week, it has been no less busy here at school. It has been a bustling time with a lot of learning and exciting activities taking place. There were incredible performances at the Spring Band Concert last night that highlighted the musical talents of our Grade 6-12 band students. What a wonderful opportunity to be treated to such an evening, and we know that it brought joy to everyone who attended. There was also the Grade 4 field trip to the MacMillan Space Centre, and we were also fortunate to have more students share their talents in the Junior School assembly.

Looking ahead, we are excited to celebrate Pride Week, a time dedicated to promoting inclusivity, understanding, and acceptance. The GSA group, supported by Ms. Patricia Brooke, has organized a variety of activities for our students to engage in, including reading stories with buddies from other grade levels, creating uplifting sidewalk chalk messages, participating in a colourful fashion show, decorating cookies, and attending a whole school assembly. I deeply value these opportunities to come together as a community as it is so important to provide chances for different grade levels to learn from and inspire each other, foster empathy, celebrate diversity, and build a supportive community where every student feels valued and respected. We look forward to a week filled with learning, fun, and meaningful connections.

As we prepare for a week of being inspired by each other at school, I encourage UA families to try and carve out some time to learn from one another too. Activities such as shared reading, family game nights, cooking together, making art, and outdoor adventures model lifelong learning, enhance communication skills, and create a supportive environment where everyone feels valued. Learning together helps students to build confidence and creates lasting memories, all of which contribute to the overall well-being and success of our students.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend ahead,

Amy Morrell
Junior School Facilitator
